Walnuts + A Semi + Beer = Love :)

SO much about this wedding from last weekend is still fresh in my mind -- just to name a few: Tripping over walnuts (and a gopher trap, mind you) during photos, shooting images that involved one big semi (for the second time in my wedding history -- those things are SO badass!) as well as watching the bridal party enjoying some handcrafted beer! There were so many other memorable moments during Cody & Ashley's big day, too many to mention in fact, so I will let the images highlight it all for you! The photo below of a heart stitched into Ashley's dress was so neat, it was made out of her grandfather's old shirt! The Brehme's had an absolutely GORGEOUS day with plenty of fall color to go around! I wish them all the best in their new life together, and hope you all enjoy their {rather large} sneak peek!! :)

Par for the Course

I hit the road for this next session, to photograph Nate, Ruthie, Rowan and Ty at the Cedar Rapids Country Club! Nate and I work for the same company, and I have met Ruthie just briefly once before - but it was the first time meeting the two little cuties in these photos :) They did SO great, and I have Mr. Ty to thank for the adorable silly photo- as it was ALL his idea! I just love it!! Ruthie and Nate will be married next fall down in Florida, and so we shot a few family photos, as well as their engagement portraits! Nate is an avid golfer, so it was a great location for pictures! Upon arriving, a nice gentlemen (who's name for the life of me I cannot recall…) took me for a spin on the golf cart to show me around and help scout locations. It was a beautiful fall day, and I had a blast carting around the course with this fun bunch!! Enjoy their sneak peek!

Out with a… selfie?

Meet Zach. This guy has the title of being my last senior of 2014!!! And his session was a fun one! I don’t know much about soccer, but it was fun to see Zach in his element at the soccer field! We also bounced around town for a few shots (and p.s. one of Zach’s shirts came all the way from Europe!!) and then headed out to a local park to wrap up the session! I had a close call as we were leaving, almost forgetting to grab my usual instagram pic with each senior I photograph. But I called Zach as we were driving away from the last location and quickly grabbed a selfie along the side of the road! Too funny! I can definitely say that I have had a BLAST working with all of my seniors this year and it has been a privilege getting to know each and every one of them! I wish all of them only the best in their senior year!

She's got Style

Get ready for some seriously stunning images! Oh my gosh, did I get lucky with all of my seniors this year! I swear I photograph some of the most amazing clients. I think I say this every year, but they just keep getting better and better! And miss Annie didn’t let me down! This girl has got the eyes, the hair, the sky-high legs – and knows how to pose! (P.S. I am SUPER jealous of this girl’s hair!!) And did I mention she is a great athlete too!? I had SO much fun with Annie, her mom, and her sister! I could not wait for this session once I saw the outfits syles she had put together – I mean that hat & floral print dress - hello ADORABLE! And any girl that wants to include cowboy boots into her attire is my kinda gal! :) I pretty much am leaving all of these sessions wanting to go shopping to find all of these super cute clothes for myself!! I hope that you enjoy her sneak peek of awesome images!

Up with the Sun

I think I may be starting to be converted to a morning person… for multiple reasons. I have always primarily been a night owl, but soon after children arrive, that pretty much gets thrown out the window, since sleep typically trumps late night editing marathons for this girl. Evening sessions have always been my favorite, but since Steve is in football with practice every night, we needed to do an a.m. shoot. And an early one at that! We started Steve’s session JUST after the sun came up, and I am glad that he and his mom were game for meeting me early, because the light we had was simply amazing! And I am SO glad it’s fall and the colors are starting to just peek through everything, making it the perfect time of year for photos! We wrapped up Steve’s session at the football field (after he had JUST sprained his ankle, mind you) and he wasn’t about to let that ruin his senior portraits!! This guy is a killer athlete and am super excited to share his sneak peek! Enjoy!

Friday Night at the Field

Meet Seth - West Delaware H.S. Senior!  Seth was a trooper during his session -- I tend to over-shoot with my seniors because I typically am having way too much fun and loose track of time…! And once again I was blessed with great weather! It was a tad bit windy (so I kept telling him how glad I was that I had a senior guy shoot that evening) but his hair didn't budge and we had fun running around town for his senior pics regardless! Seth is an amazing ball player to boot, so of course our last stop had to be the ball field. Senior photos should really showcase the senior, their personality and what they are passionate about! So I am always game for including something the seniors love! We did some pitching action shots and I even made the poor guy hold a couple of the poses mid pitch, so that I could play with my camera settings and grab some with the awesome evening sunset as our backdrop! (Thanks for bearing with me Seth!) I think the images pretty much sum up how he did. But I’ll let you all be the judge ~ Enjoy!
