Mr. & Mrs. Domeyer

Okay.... so before everyone gets in a tizzy, since I have had lots of inquires for weddings... I am still not photographing weddings. BUT, Jill and Kevin ever so kindly allowed me to spend the day snapping candids for them, in addition to having their own actual wedding photographer. Which, is not only great practice for me, but a win-win for them since I think I got some great images for their photo album! So being able to join them on their wedding day allowed me to get great candids, have fun, and not have all the pressure of being the sole shooter at the wedding. Weddings are a huge undertaking for any photographer, sometimes requiring 2 people and/or an assistant. So for Jill & Kevin's big day, I was just able to go along as I pleased, and they were such a great couple to work for & with!! I hope that I captured the feeling of the day for Jill & Kevin!
A little about the day...
I spent the better half of the morning helping my mom do the bridal party hair. My mom started around 6 a.m. and I around 7. My mom and I had so much fun with these girls.... even though they liked to shy away from me and my giganton camera with hot rollers in their hair and little to no makeup... I was able to get some great "getting ready" shots in between hot roller settings and the bobby pins! Jill was nothing short of a beautiful bride, and one of my favorite images from the day is the image of Jill & Kevin's first kiss after seeing each other for the first time. I even teared up a bit... about a year ago I was in those same shoes. Man does the time fly! After their wedding ceremony, Jill gave me the go ahead to hop on the party bus with them, and am I glad she did! They were such a fun group--- as you might be able to tell from some of these last few images!! Their reception was beautiful as well, and I ended the night grabbing snapshot after snapshot on the dancefloor. What a beautiful day all around!! Congratulations Jill & Kevin, and have a wonderful time on your honeymoon! I hope you enjoy these images-
(And sorry Nick & Kasey-- I just couldn't resist posting that last image... photo says it all)

The Kennedy Families

Family. That's what this is allll about! This post is dedicated to all those families out there, big or small. Whether I photograph a family of 3 or a family of 27, I leave feeling like I have taken a little piece of them home with me. That's the best part of all of this, and the part that keeps bringing me back to do these crazy but fun family shoots! It has to be one of the best feelings in the world, meeting new people, hearing their stories and seeing them all come together... I LOVE it all. (Even if my mom and I left in a sweaty mess when it was all said and done!) We had a lot of fun meeting with this group.
Saturday was a great day for the family, a graduation celebration at Loras College for Jessica's (in the white dress) graduation. A big accomplishment worthy of getting everyone together for a photo-op. I got to meet with each family individually, and then joined them all together for one big formal photo, which was a task in itself! They were such a great family, patient, willing, and cooperative-- everything I could have ever asked of them. I really do hope they all enjoy this peek of their images! Thanks again to them for being so great, and to my mom for all of her help with the session!
